Band Bio

  Sanguine Addiction is a Hard Rock/Metal Band from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Formed in early 2004 by Jeff Baker (guitar) and Josh Lanier (vocals), later adding Matt Young (bass) and Phil Kessler (drums). Each of the members of Sanguine Addiction bring their own influences to the group. These influences include: Breaking Benjamin, Faith No More, Deftones, Sevendust, Mudvayne, and Soulfly, just to name a few.
   Since July 2006, the band has played over 100 shows throughout Colorado, and surrounding states, sharing the stage with national acts such as Hurt, The Exies, 5 Finger Death Punch, Deepfield, Psychostick, Saliva, and (hed)pe.  Sanguine Addiction has had several of their songs played on broadcast radio stations in Colorado Springs, CO, on 94.3 KILO; Denver, CO, on 106.7 KBPI; Rockford, IL, on 104.9 WXRX; and also on several internet and satellite radio stations, including Monsoon Radio, and also featured on Bubba the Love Sponge’s unsigned band review. The band has received the Colorado Springs Independent Newspaper’s Bronze award for the Best Band in Colorado Springs , 2006 and received the Gold Award for the Best Band in Colorado Springs , 2007and 2008. They also ranked in the top 6 for KBPI’s Best Band in Denver for 2007. Sanguine Addiction has received rave reviews from Pikes Peak Nightlife, Colorado Springs Independent newspaper, and Colorado Music Post. 
  After the June 2007 release of their debut album ‘Self Enemy’, it is the bands goal to expand their fan base, and reach as many new listeners as humanly possible through self marketing, promotion, and touring; regardless of any potential hurdles.

Strolling the isles of the downtown Colorado Springs Independent Record, hoping to find the latest Otep album had hit the shelves, the black and red cover of a local metal act caught my attention. Sanguine Addictions “Self Enemy” disc has been available for a couple months now, and though I’d caught their impressive live show on several occasions and had taken the time to listen to the tracks they have up on www.myspace.com/sanguineaddiction, I hadn’t yet considered picking up their album. Otep had still not been released so I shelled out the 11 bucks and listened to the SA album on my way home. 20 minutes later I found myself sitting in my car reluctant to go inside before the song “Dissipate” ended. You could lump SA into the category of Nu-Metal, but if I were to describe them to a friend it would sound something like this; “Sanguine Addiction is high energy, extremely enjoyable, radio friendly metal, they’re always hard hitting and consistently deliver a solid and commanding live show”. I’d love to see how a couple months on the road would sharpen this band, but as they stand there’s no question why this band has been booked as the opener for so many touring national acts.
